Mermaid Paper Doll Shadow Box

PaperWhimsy had a sign-up for a Paper Doll Shadow Box Project and you know I had to sign up!! Love the paper dolls and we were given a "secret sister" to create for. I have fun all month teasing my "sister" so that she wouldn't think it was for her. I know she loves it and can't wait for her to receive it in the mail.

The doll has a PW face with french text body & arms. I hand-drew the "seaweed" around her face and added the crystal and flower embellishments. For her tail (which moves) I used distressed embossing powder.

For the background, I did some needle felting using a stencil and poked the olive & lime roving through the cut-outs to make the "seaweed" design. I added some navy and purple roving to create a bit of a swirld and after placing the doll on the background I added some sequins and beads. Do you like it? I am very pleased with her and excited to mail her to her new home. :-)

Fabric Postcards for Swap

The talented and gracious artist Lenna Andrews is hosting a Tallulah Card swap. Each of the 35 participants are sending in 4 cards to swap and one card to present to Leslie Elledge, owner of Alpha Stamps and sponsor of the swap. In exchange, we will receive 4 cards and one collage sheet from the sponsor. I also included a postcard for Lenna because she does such a great job hosting her swaps and the work that comes through her hands is divine!

Here are the postcards that I made. Oh, BTW, we could make any kind of "card" we wanted...postcards or greeting cards and they could be made of fabric, paper or a combination. I wanted to try paper and fabric together so this is what I ended up with. :-)

I can't wait to make more, aren't they fun!!! I love orange & pink together! LOL

Gothic Arch Mingle - February

This month at AAS I am creating a gothic arch for Tamara C. and her theme is "whimsical wings". We are to decorate the front and put a little something on the back with our name, etc. I haven't really done a lot of "whimsy" yet but thorougly enjoyed the process and will definitely want to do it again. It made me happy and I love the text "Wake Up every morning with the thought that something WONDERFUL is about to happen!" Now isn't that the perfect way to start each day!

I have been given a "You Make My Day" Award

Linda over at The Art Sook gave me this great award and now I want to pass it on .... "The rules for the “You Make My Day” award are to pass it forward to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration or just makes you feel good when you visit them. Let them know through email or by posting a comment on their blog so they can pass it on. Beware you may get the award several times, and if you do, consider yourself really, really loved. Here are 10 of the 100's of blogs that keep me inspired and bring a smile to my face. Check them out when you have a few minutes... perhaps there are some new friends to be made!
