February 8x8 Tip In

This month, one of my projects at Altered Art Swap is an 8"x8" tip in using a French-inspired "Life is Beautiful" theme in sepia tones. I started out with a paper background mounted on 140# watercolor paper and then used a lovely rubber stamp and distressed ink to give it a vintage feel. Then it was "create away"!

I planned to make a bookmark to put in the library card pocket but as usual, a doll crept her way out and next thing I knew, I had made a beautiful French ballerina instead. I have to admit that I am very pleased with the results. Those Dolls just always sneak into my art, don't they? I wonder how many more are inside? :)

Victorian Romance Fan

I enjoyed the fan blade template so much that I decided to join a second group. Our theme was Victorian Romance. Isn't it amazing that 5 different people can end up creating something that matches so well?

Pictured is three of my blades and our completed fan. Completed fan participants are from left to right; Carol Stocker, Patti Crump, Linda Kunsman, Mary Ann Severin and hostess Angelina Thoma. We each made an extra blade and Angelina assembled it for charity.

Spring In Bloom Romance Fan

Everyone asked to see the finished fan so here it is! Didn't it turn out beautifully? Blades from left to right are Patricia Schweitzer, Joan Lawrence, Gina Wise, Carol Stocker & Anne Hartman. It was so fun to create something this beautiful with four other ladies that I like and admire so much! Happy Valentine's Day!

Another Gothic Arch

These Gothic Arches are kind of addicting. Here is one that I made for Caryl Hoobler, the host of the PW swap.

First Attempt at Needle Felting

I decided to give Needle Felting a go and found that I love it! It's like painting with fibers! I started with a pale cranberry wool felt and added roving, prima flowers and ribbons along with a lovely coppery frame and whimsical image.

I took an 8"x8" rusty metal ceiling tile and cut an "X" through the middle of it, rolled the points back and used it as a frame! Pretty cool, huh? I am going to add some rivets in the corner to hold it all together and then hang it on my art wall.
